March 2019, the Parochial Church Council (PCC) adopted new policies, procedures and guidelines for safeguarding children, young people and adults who may be vulnerable and for responding to domestic abuse. These are called “A Safe Church” and have been developed and recommended to us by the House of Bishops and has been substantially revised and updated in 2018. . They are comprehensive, consistent with legislation and best practice and they supersede all our previous parish policies and guidelines. They are readily accessible to everyone who needs to know about them on the diocesan website at:
https://southwark.anglican.org/safeguarding/diocesan-policies-and-procedures.

Collectively and individually we need to be aware of the new procedures and guidance as they apply to the different areas of our work, examine our current practice in the light of it and put in place the changes that are needed to ensure that we are fulfilling our responsibilities. The aim is to enable us to do the best that we can to promote the safety and wellbeing of those we work with in the parish.
