The Active Retired is a Parish Group based at All Saints’ Church.   Some members attend one of the churches in the parish, while others are local residents with no affiliation to any of the three churches. Members cover a wide range of age from new retirees in their 60’s to the late 90’s and beyond.

The Group has access to several wheelchairs, three of them lightweight models newly purchased by the parish, and benefits from the kind cooperation of local community organisations, FiSH and RAKAT, for the provision of mini-bus transport and volunteer drivers. The Group is self-financing; members pay no subscription, but are charged the specific fee for each event or trip. Unpaid volunteer helpers give lifts to events, cater for regular monthly teas and occasional lunches and serve at a varied schedule of activities.

Events and Outings

The Active Retired have visited Kenwood House and Wakehurst Place on day trips. They have had excursions to the movies at the spectacular Olympic Studios in Barnes. They have heard talks from journalist Julie Etchingham and learned about initiatives such as Dogs for the Deaf. Local Police have also spoken to the group about staying safe. When they are not out and about the members enjoy table games, conversation and delicious afternoon teas at All Saints Church where the group is based.
