'The garden is a microcosm of God's presence in nature. It can become a sacred place where God himself is known and made known. '
A simple ministry of hospitality and prayer
The Quiet Garden Movement encourages the provision of a variety of local venues where there is an opportunity to set aside time to rest and to pray.
Christ Church Quiet Gardens is based in East Sheen a leafy suburb of London. Christ Church is set in its own garden on the corner of West Temple Sheen and Christ Church Road. Nearby are the green spaces of Sheen Common and Richmond Park.
Welcome
There are two Quiet Garden Afternoons held each year. For 2012 they are:
Sunday May 13th, 2.30pm
Tuesday July 31st, 1.30pm
At other times please you are welcome to make your quiet day by visiting Christ Church, its garden and local open spaces.
Leaflets on where to walk, including a map, and handouts for reflection, are available in the church.
Morning Prayer is said at 9.15 on Wednesdays and Fridays, and Evening Prayer is said daily Monday to Thursday at 5.00. Every Wednesday there is a Eucharist at 10.30am to which anyone is very welcome to come, and coffee and tea are served afterwards.
The church is open daily for quiet prayer and reflection - please note there are weekly children's services at 10.00 on Thursdays and 4.00 on Fridays when the church is not so quiet!
The church garden is also open daily; part of it is used in the mornings by the local nursery school.
Refreshments and toilet facilities are not usually available. The Victoria, which is just down the road, is part of the Community Toilet Scheme
- as well as serving refreshments.
