The Active Retired Group |
||
The Group's activities are based at All Saints' Church, though it serves the whole area of the Parish of Mortlake with East Sheen, and beyond. Some Group members are members of the parish, while others are local residents with no affiliation to any of the three churches. The Group is self-financing; members pay no subscription, but are charged the specific fee for each event or trip. Unpaid volunteer helpers give lifts to events, cater for regular monthly teas and occasional lunches, serve as a varied schedule of activities. The Group has access to several wheelchairs, three of them lightweight models newly purchased by the parish, and benefits from the kind cooperation of local community organisations, FiSH and RAKAT, for the provision of mini-bus transport and volunteer drivers. This season's events include talks (on 16th- and 17th-century painting, the Orange Tree Theatre, Worcester porcelain); visits to Syon House, Lambeth Palace and Winchester; and a garden-party tea in a beautiful local garden. |
